AJ Davis (2028) — A Complete Player Built on Confidence, Control, and Competitive Edge

Few prospects in the 2028 class check as many boxes as AJ Davis out of Denham Springs, Louisiana. Highly touted and preparing to be heavily recruited come September 1st of this year, when coaches can start officially recruiting 2028 juniors. Davis’s game is built on a rare combination of confidence, discipline, speed, and versatility — traits that consistently show up both in the stat line and in high-pressure moments.

Confidence and Maturity at the Plate

One of the biggest leaps in Davis’s development has been mental. She describes her growth as learning to trust her preparation — especially when the game is on the line.

“I feel like I trust my preparation more now, especially in high-pressure moments. I’m more in control of my at-bats and more aware of how I can impact the game even when I’m not getting hits.” AJ Davis

That mindset shows in her approach. Davis isn’t chasing power or forcing outcomes. Instead, she’s focused on quality at-bats, seeing the ball deep, and staying within herself.

“The game slowed down for me. I focused on not trying to do too much and having more quality at-bats.”

Elite Plate Discipline and Intentional Approach

Davis’s offensive profile is defined by control, and she described it as being very intentional. She has worked extensively on understanding her zones and limiting chase, knowing that getting on base — whether by hit or walk — applies pressure and helps her team win. “I’ve worked hard on understanding my zones and not chasing pitches. Getting on base helps my team, and that mindset drives my approach.”

That discipline translated directly into production this summer.

Summer Stats (Louisiana Unity Savant 16U):

• .567 batting average

• .700 on-base percentage

• 6 home runs

• 16 stolen bases

• 25 walks

Those numbers reflect a hitter who doesn’t give away at-bats and consistently creates offense.

Speed That Changes the Game

Speed is a defining element of Davis’s skill set — and she knows exactly how to weaponize it. AJ detailed “I use speed to create pressure. Whether it's affecting how defenses play me or helping me to take extra bases to and score, having the extra edge can force mistakes for opponents and provide more opportunities for my team”

That pressure shows up immediately once she reaches base, forcing defensive mistakes and opening opportunities for the hitters behind her.

Her verified metrics back it up:

• Steal times: 2.79 / 2.80

• Bat speed: 59

• Exit velocity: 75.89 mph

• Arm velocity: 59.4 mph

The combination of speed, bat control, and athleticism gives her true top-of-the-order impact.

Versatility and Competitive Identity

Davis doesn’t see herself as a one-dimensional player.

She prides herself on being complete — capable of contributing at the plate, in the field, and even in the circle when needed. “I don't chase power- I try to just let it come through good swings and stay within myself. My focus is to get good contact and getting on base and trust that the power will develop naturally. I want to be known as a complete player — someone who performs at the plate, in the field, and on the mound if needed.”

Her mindset is rooted in consistency, humility, and competitiveness.

“I stick to my routine, control the controllables, and stay coachable. I want to leave the program better than I found it.” AJ Davis

Built for the Next Level

Academics and development matter deeply to Davis as she evaluates future opportunities.

She’s looking for a program that challenges her on and off the field — one that values culture, family, and long-term growth as much as performance. “Beyond softball, I want to grow as a person. Development is a key priority for me.”

And representing Louisiana carries weight.

“Louisiana athletes play with a different level of grit and toughness. Representing this state motivates me to work harder.” AJ Davis

Scouting Report

AJ Davis is already producing like a high-level prospect — but what separates her is how intentional and composed her game has become at such a young age.

With elite on-base skills, game-changing speed, measurable power development, and a mature competitive mindset, she continues to solidify herself as one of Louisiana’s premier 2028 talents.

And she’s just getting started.
