LSU Baseball Picks up Their 1st Transfer of the Cycle in South Carolina SS Michael Braswell

LSU lands their first transfer of the cycle in former 2022 Freshman All-SEC Shortstop Michael Braswell. in 2022 Braswell was also a semi finalist for the John Olerud Award. Coming out of High School he was ranked as a No.63 Overall player and the No.16 shortstop by Perfect Game and had a Perfect Game Rating of 10 which equates to a Potential very high draft pick and/ or Elite level prospect.

In his first two seasons in South Carolina maintained a .271 Batting Average and scored 50 and recorded 50 RBIs, 3 HRs, 17 doubles, and 3 triples. I asked Michael what sold him on LSU "The fact that Coach Jay was focused on my development as a player, obviously LSU is LSU so he didn't have to sell me on the program or the fans or anything. He sold me on the fact that he believed that after what he saw from me this year and believed that with his guidance I could develop into an all American type player. I took a visit down there and he showed me what tweaks he would make to me and showed me all the resources they had to do it and I knew that I wanted to go here."

Coming out of HS he was a two way player and did a little pitching at USC but he says regarding going both ways at LSU "I’m focused solely on playing shortstop now." He described his game for me in his own words "Smoothness defensively, I try my best to make everything look and feel as easy as possible in the field, overall I would say passionate, I play the game with everything I have and play with fun and passion to the game, Carolina fans would back me up on that."

His message to Tiger Nation "I would like to say that you are getting one of the most passionate players in college baseball and one of the best defenders in college baseball and that I am blessed to have the opportunity to play at the box and I won’t take it for granted !!! " And added "GEAUX TIGERS !!!!"
