Saturday was a day filled with weather delays that prevented LSU and Kentucky from getting the Baton Rouge Super Regional underway. The only thing is there was actually no weather happening from preventing the game from starting only a threat of weather that had a 2pm start pushed back to a 7pm start time , that was then pushed to 8pm and then again 9pm. Many fans were frustrated and left to go home after multiple delays.
It seems most of those fans returned for the 9pm start time because Alex Box was rocking and packed. It seems most of the electricity that was expected during the day was channeled into the LSU bats as they haywire from start to finish.
In the bottom of the 1st Tre Morgan homered for the first of two blasts on the night to left to give LSU A 1-0 lead. On the night, Paul Skenes did Paul Skenes things in his final home game in Alex Box as he struck out 9 in 7.2 innings with his fastball living in the 100-102mph range. Jay Johnson with the classy move to pull Skenes with 1 out left to go in the 8th inning and let him get the standing ovation from a lively crowd at the box and appreciation for the 1 year we were blessed to have the super star pitcher. Also worth note, Dylan Crews will play his final game in Alex Box Stadium. Gentlemen, we salute you.
Tune in tonight at 5:00 CT on ESPN2 as the Tigers attempt to punch their ticket to Omaha as Ty Floyd likely is the one to take the mound. The weather for that time could lead to a similar situation as yesterday so beware there may be delays.
