Crystal Ball: Projecting LSU’s 2027 Softball Class

Why I think LSU goes big again with another No.1-ranked haul
Alright y’all, this is my final swing at projecting how I think LSU’s 2027 recruiting class shakes out — and just so we’re clear, this is strictly my opinion. No “done deals,” just how I see things lining up based on trends, and gut feel.
I think LSU is about to pull off something special again. Back-to-back classes with two Top 10 pitchers, the No.1 outfielder, of the premier catchers in the country, plus a mix of versatile athletes who can move around the middle infield, corners, and even the outfield. That’s the kind of balance you win with.
The player I feel strongest about LSU landing is Sydney Gonglik. She might be “just” ranked No.10 overall, but I’ll go ahead and say it — I think she’s the best player in the entire class. That’s not just me hyping her up either; a lot of others have made the same case. The only reason I feel she was not ranked higher was dealing with an injury and working to get healthy again. The Elite hitting with her pitching is a rarity in the sport.
Last year LSU raided the West Coast for elite talent. This year? I think Texas is where the spotlight shifts. LSU has had great success in that state already — Tori Edwards out of Texas Glory has been a big-time producer — and I wouldn’t be surprised if they double (or even triple) dip into that pipeline this cycle.
One interesting wrinkle is Pennsylvania. I’m not sure LSU has ever landed a player from there, but this might be the year they get the top two out of the state. That would be a first — and a statement.
This class feels a little bigger than normal at eight names. Could it be six or seven? Sure. But the way the transfer portal has been, and the way LSU’s roster is likely to flip by the time these girls' hit campus, I think a bigger group makes sense.
While this class projection and the 2026 class coming in next year there are no Louisiana girls. Expect that to change in the 2028 class as I think you could see over 50% of that class be filled by Louisiana girls. Possibly the deepest class in state history with Baylor Bockhaus, Joley Bennett and AJ Davis among others.
So here it is my final LSU class projection list, complete with confidence percentages (take those with a grain of salt). Let’s dive in.

Wrap-Up Thoughts
If LSU pulls in even six or seven of these names, it’s another statement class that keeps the Tigers stocked with elite-level talent. This group blends pitching depth, defensive versatility, and some of the best bats in the country — exactly what you need to stay in the national title conversation.
I do want to note that while Lolo Gamble isn’t technically ranked as the No.1 catcher, I have her right up there with the No.2 overall player in this class (who also happens to be a catcher). In fact, Gamble might be the best pure hitter in the 2027 cycle, which says a lot about her potential impact.
As for players who just missed my final cut, it wasn’t an easy decision. The names I strongly considered include:
Addison DeRoche (P, Maine)
Macie Bryant (P, Texas)
Bayleigh Taylor (IF, Texas)
Samantha Nichols (IF, California)
Bailey Barnett (IF, Missouri)
Janie Goldin (C, Georgia)
LuLu Adrian Hutton (C, Texas)
That’s a talented list in its own right, and if one or two of them end up in purple and gold, it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Any of those names on my projections could fall off and be replaced by one of these or any of the other names mentioned in my articles leading up to this. These girls are the best of the best and will have so many options in front of them.
At the end of the day, this is just one man’s projection, but the bottom line is clear: LSU is swinging big again, and if this class comes together anywhere close to this projection, they’ll be set up for another run at the top of the recruiting rankings.
