Beth Torina and her Lady Tigers Softball squad went into the Tiger Classic with a record of (8-0) and after five games played between Thursday and Saturday and still have a zero in the loss column. The offensive firepower trend continued as they scored 37 runs over five games.
The first game they played of two against Boise State was a defensive battles where LSU rode Ace pitcher Sydney Berzon to the tune of 10 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts. The Tigers would win (3-2) as Taylor Pleasants broke the (2-2) tie with a solo homerun to centerfield. Berzon improved to (4-0) on the season.
They would square off with the Broncos again on Friday evening with LSU jumping on them early with Briggs and Coffey plating two runs off of a Raeleen Gutierrez single. Then in the 2nd inning they scored 3 more runs with Pleasants driving in 2 runs and Gutierrez earned another RBI. They headed to the 4th with a (5-0) lead and were on their way to what seemed might be a mercy rule until McAnally homered scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the 4th Ali Newland notched an RBI but McAnally would homer again in the 5th to plate 3 and make it (5-6). Raelin Chaffin would take the circle for the Tigers after that and she only allowed 1 hit in 3 innings with 3 strikeouts. In the 5th Pleasants and Newland would both add RBIs and LSU would go on to win (8-5) giving Emma Strood her 2nd win with a (2-0) record and Raelin Chaffin would pick up her 1st save of the year.

Newland shared the stage with Raelin Chaffin as she threw her best game of the year with a complete game 7.0 inning performance where she struck out 5 and only allowed 2 hits improving to (4-0) on the season as the Tigers won the game (5-0).
In the final game of the Tiger Classic that the Tigers were featured in Beth Torina sent Emilee Casanova to the circle. Casanova would throw a complete game pitching all five innings for LSU, giving up only 3 hits and no runs while striking out 5 and improving to (2-0) on the year. On the offensive side of the ball it was a different story as LSU would score 11 runs with Taylor Pleasants, Ali Newland and Abigail Savoy each hitting a homerun.
