LSU Volleyball Lands Game-Changing Commitments in Twins Naomi and Nyla Livings

In a seismic moment for LSU Volleyball, the Tigers have secured commitments from two of the nation’s most coveted prospects, Naomi and Nyla Livings, for the Class of 2026. These twin sisters, hailing from Texas, are elite talents who could have chosen any program in the country but opted to don the Purple and Gold. Their arrival signals a bold new era for LSU under head coach Tonya Johnson, positioning the Tigers as serious contenders on the national stage.

Who Are Naomi and Nyla Livings?

Naomi Livings, an outside hitter, and Nyla Livings, a middle blocker, bring a rare combination of athleticism, skill, and versatility to Baton Rouge. According to PrepVolleyball, Nyla is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the Class of 2027 and the top middle blocker in her class, showcasing her dominance at the net. Naomi, meanwhile, is ranked No. 26 overall and is a dynamic force as an outside hitter, known for her powerful attacks and defensive prowess.

Max Preps lists Stats for the duo in their 2024 season with Prestonwood Christian in Plano,TX. Nyla recorded 97 kills, 6 aces, 33 blocks, and 56.4 kill percentage, in only 35 sets played. Naomi contributed 211 kills, 36 blocks, 70 digs, and 8 aces with a 44.7 kill percentage. Their performances on the national club circuit, with Texas Advantage Volleyball has earned them accolades and attention from every major program in the country.

Why Their Commitment to LSU Matters

The Livings sisters’ decision to commit to LSU is a statement. As top-tier recruits, they had their pick of perennial powerhouses like Stanford, Nebraska, or Texas. Yet, they chose LSU, a program on the rise under Coach Tonya Johnson, who has been steadily rebuilding the Tigers since taking over in 2022. This choice underscores the allure of Johnson’s vision: a program that combines SEC competitiveness, a passionate fan base, and a commitment to player development.

Naomi and Nyla’s impact will be immediate and far-reaching. Nyla’s presence as a middle blocker will fortify LSU’s front line, providing a formidable blocking threat and a reliable attacking option. Her ability to read plays and disrupt opponents’ offenses will elevate the Tigers’ defense, an area where LSU has shown improvement but seeks to dominate. Naomi, as an outside hitter, brings explosive offense and all-around skills. Her versatility to contribute in both the front and back rows will give LSU the flexibility to adapt against top SEC and national opponents.

Together, the Livings sisters form a dynamic duo capable of transforming LSU into a national contender. Their chemistry as twins, honed through years of playing together, will be a unique asset, fostering seamless on-court communication and execution. As LSU aims to climb the NCAA rankings—where the Tigers have been competitive but not yet elite—these commitments signal a shift toward challenging for SEC titles and deep NCAA Tournament runs.

The Bigger Picture for LSU Volleyball

LSU Volleyball has a storied history, with 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and four SEC championships, but the program has not reached a Final Four since 1991. The arrival of Naomi and Nyla Livings could be the catalyst to return the Tigers to national prominence. Their commitments reflect LSU’s growing appeal to elite recruits, bolstered by the state-of-the-art facilities at the PMAC and the electric atmosphere of Baton Rouge regardless of what sport is playing.

Moreover, their decision to stay in the South—despite offers from programs nationwide—highlights LSU’s ability to keep top talent close to home. Texas, a volleyball hotbed, produces some of the country’s best players, and securing two of its brightest stars is a recruiting coup for Coach Johnson.

Looking Ahead

As Naomi and Nyla Livings prepare to join LSU in 2026, the volleyball world will be watching. Their rankings, skills, and potential make them cornerstone pieces for a program hungry to compete at the highest level. For fans, the anticipation of seeing these two phenoms in action is palpable. For opponents, the Livings sisters are a WARNING: LSU Volleyball is coming, and they’re bringing the best with them.

With Naomi’s thunderous kills and Nyla’s commanding presence at the net, the future of LSU Volleyball is brighter than ever. The Tigers are no longer just a team to watch—they’re a team to fear.
