No. 16 LSU Travels to Knoxville for SEC Heavyweight Showdown

SEC play begins with a measuring stick.

No. 16 LSU (17–4) heads to Knoxville to face No. 1 Tennessee (19–0) in a matchup that pits LSU’s offensive pressure against the SEC’s most dominant pitching staff.

This is the first conference game, and it could not be a tougher test for the Tigers.

And LSU is walking into it with momentum as they are starting to capitalize a little more than they previously did with runners in scoring position.

LSU’s Offense Is Built on Damage

The Tigers don’t just get on base — they drive the baseball.

• 139 hits

• 24 doubles

• 14 home runs

• .448 slugging percentage

• .424 OB%

• 118 walks drawn

And don’t overlook the triples (11).

Alix Franklin and Sierra Daniel have been electric stretching hits into extra bases, adding speed and gap pressure to a lineup that can flip innings quickly.

LSU has left 156 runners on base this season — but that also tells you something important:

The Tigers are constantly creating traffic.

The next step is cashing it in consistently against elite pitching.

Tennessee Brings the SEC’s Top ERA

Tennessee enters the series with a 0.53 team ERA and just 39 walks allowed on the season. The Volunteers strike out hitters at a high rate and rarely give free passes. They force teams to earn everything. This weekend becomes a stylistic clash:

LSU creates pressure.

Tennessee prevents it.

The Bats That Will Decide Knoxville

🔶 Tennessee’s Top Three

• Sophia Knight — .550 AVG | .650 SLG

• Gabby Leach — .415 AVG

• Ella Dodge — .370 AVG | 6 HR

Knight has been nearly automatic at the plate. Leach sets the table. Dodge brings the power threat.

That trio is a major reason Tennessee remains unbeaten.

🟣 LSU’s Core

• Sierra Daniel — .414 AVG | .586 SLG

• Jalia Lassiter — .377 AVG, team leader in runs

• Tori Edwards — .286 AVG | 4 HR

• Char Lorenz — .268 AVG | 3 HR

LSU’s strength is depth. Multiple hitters can produce damage in any inning.

And don’t overlook the recent surge from Kylee Edwards. After starting the season ice cold, she has turned it on over the last 6–8 games and now sits at .246 while continuing to be a defensive highlight reel in the field.

That kind of balance matters in a road SEC series.

What This Weekend Means

This won’t be about hype.

It will be about execution.

If LSU converts early opportunities and forces Tennessee into stressful innings, this becomes a true SEC battle.

Knoxville.

No. 1 in the country.

Conference play begins.

LSU has the pieces.

Now comes the test.
