LSU Volleyball is in pursuit of one of the top players in the country in LSU legacy Macaria Spears out of Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Tx. Spears, the daughter of former LSU All-American defensive lineman Marcus Spears and former LSU All-SEC Women's Hoops star Aiysha Spears. What a thrill it would be to see the soon to be junior, Texas Gatorade Player of the Year head to LSU for her college career.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore outside hitter led her high school to a 40-1 record and a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state championship this past season. On a monster season Macaria had some eye popping stats with 544 kills and 225 digs. She added 65 blocks, with 50 aces and a .602 kill percentage. She is a member of the under-19 U.S. National Team and a member of the MaxPreps First-Team All-American Squad.
I hope the LSU coaching staff can pull this one off as this is just to perfect of a storm. Time will tell but this would be another step forward in establishing a consistent program who makes deep tournament runs under Head Coach Tonya Johnson.
