The LSU Volleyball team was coming off a weekend slate of games in the Bluejay Invitational where they went 1-2 over the weekend with their best game coming on Sunday where they won by winning 3 straight sets after dropping the first to Ball State. This brought their record to (2-3) on the season with the Ragin Cajuns of UL-Lafayette coming in for a mid-week game.
LSU was led to victory by Jade Demps who played one of her better games of the season as she earned the LSU Daily Player of the Game with a career-high 15 kills, added 10 digs and 3 blocks and was one of two players to turn in double doubles. The other being Maddie Waak who is one of the unsung leaders of this team. Waak had 42 assists and 20 digs.
The Tigers were able to win the first set (25-17) and set the tone for the match. UL-Lafayette answered quickly and tied the match at 1 set each by winning the set (25-20). This would be the only time in 4 sets that the Tigers allowed 20 points as LSU would win sets 3 and 4 (25-12) in both sets.
Other notables on the stat sheet were Middle blocker Angie Lee who had a match-high four blocks and five kills. Jurnee Robinson finished with 11 kills (.350) while Sanaa Dotson added 10 kills on the day giving the Tigers 3 players with double digit kills. Libero Erin Carmichael finished with 10 digs and 9 assists and 1 ace.
The Tigers now sit at (3-3) on the season, while the Ragin’ Cajuns drop their third straight match to move to 4-4. Dating back to game two of a double header against UCLA the Tigers had dropped nine consecutive sets heading into set 2 of the Ball State game. Since then, these ladies have shown some grit and rattled off 6 of 7 set wins.
